Cardfight #40: ZaCaptain’s Alfred Royal Paladin Deck Profile

Hey, fighters!

Cardfight #40 sees us pit the new Gold Paladin start deck against ZaCaptain’s Alfred Royal Paladin deck. You can check the video above to see the bout, but if you’re interested in seeing the Alfred Royal Paladin deck profile, we have it in this post.

As the Gold Paladin Start deck is played straight out of the box without any modifications, we feel that there is no need to put up a deck profile for it. You can check out what’s in the card list over at the Cardfight Wiki.

Take note that this build is one that is used for this cardfight. Changes may have been already made at this point in time by the owner. You are welcome to learn from this deck profile if you are looking to build one, but we highly encourage you to build yours to fit you.

Notes:-

  • As mentioned in the video, it is a low-budget build. It can be used as a base and improved upon with units like Swordsman of Light, Junos or Swordsman of Light, Ahmes and Blaster Blade. I’m not currently looking to upgrade it because this deck was made on a whim.
  • For strides, the only Royal Paladin strides I obtained was Gablade from the G-TD02. The other strides will easily go with this deck without an issue, especially Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel.
  • The idea behind this deck is call power. From Alfred to Benon, you can use the various unit abilities to call out more units onto the field. If you rush up to a full field, you would still have enough call power to continue calling in future turns. However, it’s meant to support the idea of having skills and resources to call a unit every turn from grade 3 till the end of the game, all for Blaster Axe Grawl and Alfred’s skills.
  • Gigantech Charger is there because Conjurer of Mithril is too unreliable to count on. There is little worry about riding up to him since the more likely grade 3s you would find is Ezzell or Alfred.
  • Your biggest hitters are Ezzell on Legion and Blaster Axe Grawl. Belk is there to handle nasty Link Joker lockers, but she’s there with Encourage Angel and Margal to power up your rearguards to or past the magic number.
  • Blaster Rapier Laura can be switched out for Laurel Knight, Sicilus for striding purposes, but any unit that has 7000 power will do, like the aforementioned Junos. Low budget units that are as good is Battlesong Angel. Whatever the choice, the 7000 power unit is there to make sure that Blaster Axe Grawl hits the magic number of 16000, or 21000 if you proc his skill.
  • There is no order on who you should use first to start superior calling onto your field, but the preferred targets to call would be Blaster Axe Grawl, Miron/Richard and Hudiplus. Hudiplus helps defensively against big numbers, and Miron/Richard helps out with increasing your hand. As long as you’re counting your soul and counterblasts, you should have little worry about running out of them. Paccgal’s countercharge recovers your blasts, and Margal and reriding Ezzell helps increase the soul. The bonus of reriding Ezzell is that you can send back important units lost to the drop zone when you Seek Mate, and recall them again with Ezzell or any other unit’s skill.
  • This note means nothing to the deck overall, but I would suggest avoiding what I did with my triggers if you can. It isn’t because of a lack of cards (except Encourage Angel) but because I like to mix things up in decks I’m not as serious about as my main ones.
